“Before becoming a real estate appraiser Jeff was a cost replacement appraiser for an insurance company.”
“This involved traveling 2-3 weeks a month. After a couple years I decided the travel was too much and decided to switch careers and become a real estate appraiser.”
Jeff started appraising real estate in 1998 and was certified in 2000.
“Being an appraiser has been rewarding due to the amount of time I spend with different professionals (real estate agents, clients and other appraisers). I also enjoy talking to homeowners about their homes and answering questions they might have about the current market.”
For Jeff, being professional boils down to a simple truth–treat people like you would like to be treated.
“Some examples of this philosophy in action are being on time for the inspections, having the report completed in a timely manner, and updating clients with problems that arise at the time of inspection.”
The areas in the county that Jeff services are unique because they are typically built up over 75%.
“There isn’t too much new construction going on. However, we do have a development happening close to me with around 250 new homes which is unusual. It’s been exciting to see the types of homes going in and what the prices are.”
Data in Jeff’s market has only changed slightly vs. a year ago.
“From 2022 to 2023 the median value was $375,000 vs. $387,500 from 2023 to present. Last month we had 17 sales vs. 21 last year. And average days on market over the past 12 months is 48 days vs. 52 days last year.”
