Jeff started in the appraisal business by chance while looking for an internship prior to graduating college in Santa Barbara.
“I was introduced to a local independent appraiser and was intrigued by the various
aspects of real estate and the balance of office and field work.”
Shortly after, Jeff moved to the South Bay and became a staff appraiser for B of A.
Over the course of his career Jeff has worked for numerous lenders but has found being an independent appraiser the most rewarding.
“The greatest reward is the work-life balance. The flexibility and independent nature of the job has allowed me to manage my time and not be confined to a strict 9-5 office schedule. As a result, I was able to spend a tremendous amount of time with my family when they were young.”
Accepting, completing and submitting a report—Jeff enjoys the entire lending process. He especially likes taking on challenging situations that go beyond the standard lending scenario.
“Accommodating requests involving unique circumstances or specific requirements is usually very interesting and rewarding.”
Successfully navigating situations like this is something Jeff takes great pride in.
“I try to go above and beyond whenever I can. For me that’s what customer service is all about.”
Delivering superior customer service is all part of being a professional in Jeff’s opinion.
“Being a professional is understanding the importance of customer service, communication, and meeting client expectations. By providing a high level of professionalism, I ensure that clients feel confident that they are being well-served throughout the appraisal and entire lending process.”
For Jeff a big part of that commitment to his customers is staying up to date on the ebb and flow of the south Orange County marketplace.
“The current median sale price is $1,435,000, which is down 2% vs. this time last year. And while the number of homes sold this past month (27) was down from last year (40), homes are selling faster than they were–the average-days-on-market was 14 days this past month vs. 26 days in 2022.”
