Over the years, I had worked with an excellent mortgage broker on my own loans. He always took the time to thoroughly answer questions and educate me on the process. I really enjoyed the learning of it all. During my loan closings, I’d always thought it curious that the notaries weren’t familiar with the documents. I thought to myself, “I could deliver a better experience than this.” I dove into education on loan documents, got licensed, and got to work!
What I find most rewarding about being a Notary is doing my part in supporting borrowers in one of their biggest financial transactions. On a recent signing, I was with a couple who were hesitant about the commitment they were about to make. They had many questions as we went through the large stack of papers and thanked me for providing helpful answers. We completed the signing and that couple was most appreciative of the help I was able to offer them.
Presenting myself as a professional is of the highest priority. I consider that I represent escrow and title in their client’s transaction. Everyone in the mortgage process has invested their efforts to ensure a positive experience for the borrower. Notaries are the last stop in that chain, so it’s important to me to leave the signer with a great parting impression of their entire journey.
