I find it especially rewarding when my clients’ express a sigh of relief at the end of the loan process. I try to make my clients laugh and feel relaxed because “It’s closing day” and that is something they should be excited about. Knowing that I made their closing go smoothly is very rewarding for me. That’s why I always try to go above and beyond for my clients.
For example, I once received a request for a signing late in the evening. It was an hour away and a notary was needed as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the notary who was previously scheduled couldn’t make it due to car issues. I contacted the client to setup a time to meet that night. He wasn’t too happy about me arriving so late but he said he didn’t have a choice because he would lose a lot of money on his loan if he didn’t close that night. I told him it wasn’t a problem. We completed everything and I returned home at 10:00 p.m. It was late and we were both tired, but I was glad I was able to help him with his closing.
Professionalism is my backbone. My mom taught me when going into the working world, I must always be professional. That meant being on time, polite, prepared, kind and dressing well. I take my professionalism to the next level giving my clients ink pens at the closing as a keepsake, and providing a full set of documents for their records (which is not required).
I believe that professionalism shows you take pride in your job and is key to one’s success. It’s what helps me do my job well and has driven me for the last 30 years.
